Welcome to the Madness...it goes on and on and on...

my first yak was bought because it was the only one they had and I wanted to be OTW the nxt day...it could be classed with BigJims "Big Yak" 10ft long and slower than slow...pelican... easy to drag on top of my camper and strap down...but after 4 yrs it's getting a little beat... and I'm tired of bringing up the rear guard... :smt005

I've been considering a hobbie revo...with the motor attachment to the rudder...hell yes... OLD GUYS RULE... lol.

just enjoy the ride...it's all good...welcome!!!  see ya OTW...

Welcome to NorCal! I have an rv, Class C motorhome, with yakima racks on top. It's about 11 feet off the ground. I originaly bought a lightweight kayak so it would be easier to pull it up on top as using the kayak while rv camping was my primary goal. I started off with an OK Caper for the first year, then upgraded to a Cobra Navigator the second year. Both of these were light and easy to pull up top but they are not fast boats. Now I have a Hobie Revo, fast, but it's alot heavier and tougher to pull up. I think it's worth the weight but if I used the rv to transport the kayak every weekend I would get a small trailer rather than pull it up top. I have also carried other kayaks on top such as a Tarpon 140. This was about as heavy and difficult to pull up as my Hobie. It definitely sucks when the rv roof is wet & slippery in the morning or when the winds are gusting and I'm trying to secure or offload the yak. Hope this helps. jim

Remember that everything is a trade off. You sacrifice speed and tracking for stability, and maneuverability etc...
i like a boat that has a balance of these charachteristics. I am 5'11' 205 and love my t-140. However, if'n i had the extra money around I'd have me a hobie too. I saw guy once with a motorhome and he had custom built racks on the back that held his kayaks vertically. They must have been 12' kayaks.

This was the way I originally was going to do mine. I have a pair of the TLC Saddles from YAKima, that are real form fitting adjust tom most yak hulls; and i was gonna attach it to the ladder on my RV. And then use it to hold my yak...

Man...  Maybe your RV is different than I'm imagining but I wouldn't trust a typical RV ladder to hold a load under stress.  If you lose your kayak on the freeway someone could die from the resulting accident, or playing frogger trying to recover it in traffic.

I like your idea, just not the strap it to the ladder part.  Something could be rigged up, though, I'm sure.

I figure, if that ladder could support a +200lb person, it "hopefully" shouldn't have a problem with a 75lb kayak. Also I do plan to manufacture some type of brace to safely support the bottom of the kayak from sliding down or bottoming out.

Anybody have any feedback on Stealth 14? This is probably, most likely, for surely, gonna be the boat i get; pending any negative reviews from any of you guys...

I rented sit ins an sit on tops at CAL. CANOE KAYAk, Jack London Square, before I purchased my
Hobie Sport.

I wanted to fish lakes, rivers and ocean with one Kayak.  Keith suggested that I buy the Hobie peddle system for two reasons that made sense to me:  1.  hands are free to fish; 2.  if you flip, your kayak will float like a cork.

This is my fourth year and I just recently purchased the revolution.  No problems with the kayak itself but have had problems with bait tank, and sail.

You will love this sport.  Good luck.

Just keep in mind there will be forces much more than just the kayak when you are trucking down the road at 75mph and it's catching wind...  Altamont Pass, etc...

Again I have no idea how it's constructed or anchored down so don't mind me...  just seems kinda sketchy is all.

Oh crap, that's 1 of 3 kayaks that are notoriously leaky/dangerous (along w/the Trident and Marauder). Do some research for info about the Malibu Stealth before buying.

great; more research.....

after going thru alot of threads, and searches, it looks like they have taken care of the hatch problems they had or earlier models....

11/19 - Spoke at length with Josh at Malibu Kayak to discuss past issues with the Stealth Series Yaks; and the alleged problems of it taking on water. What there R&D guys found out was that fasteners (rivets) originally used on the models was allowing water to get into the hull. They since rectified the problem by replacing them with stainless steel screws.

So after everyone's feedback (thank you all) and tons of hours of on-line research, I think that I am gonna go with that boat...

Now if I can only find it in the red color....
