Thanks Bryan.  I, too, am in the market for a rack and have been intently following this thread.

When I transport one kayak, it goes upside on my factory racks but when I take both kayaks, I put the other on Yakima Hullraiser "J" racks.  On several occasions with both yaks on the car, I thought a crosswind was going to blow the boat on "J" racks right off my car.  I've literally watched the bow lines sway in the wind.

My remedy for this is to get Yakima crossbars wide enough that I can transport both yaks upside down.  Not knowing exactly what parts I need to attach the crossbars to my SUV, I contacted Yakima directly and they gave me several options.

Now I just need to decide where to purchase the materials.
