Went to stillwater cove on Sunday.  Two other kayakers on the water, neither whom I knew.  One was definitely not a NCKA member.  I went out of the cove to the right just beyond the MPR.  Wind was blowing pretty good.  Had to tie off on kelp in order to fish.  I caught a few small 12" gophers and a 16" olive on frozen smelt with my usual carolina rig.  But that was about it.  There was one guy in an aluminum dingly with a small outboard out there as well.  When I got in he said that it was pretty slow for him except for the very end of the day when he was able to pull out a couple of lings.  Sorry, no pictures this time out, couldn't manage my phone camera and my kayak at the same time that day.  Still saving up money for a waterproof camera.

Thanks for the report Michael. Looking forward to getting out there w/you once the Open is over.
Normally I have a cake commute from Marina to Monterey (ryan ranch), like 15 miles roundtrip. But this week it's gonna take me like 45min each way!!! Believe me, I love playing golf...but the only locals who enjoy the Open are business proprietors. Everyone else leaves town to avoid the crazy golf tourists. I'll be in scenic Roseville for my cousin's wedding this wknd. OK I'll stop bitching now  :smt044

Heh, well at least the Open isn't there every year.  One and a half hours for a 15 mile round trip is crazy.  I remember doing that when I used to live in Los Angeles and I don't know how I did it for ten years.  Fortunately, you only have another week or so to put up with the traffic.  After the Open I am hoping to do one or two SWS trips in July and will probably post a hookup for a trip south of big sur as well.  Hope to fish with you soon.

sin, my cousin offered me two tix to the final round.  I'm thinking about going sunday but don't want to spend all day there, or stuck in traffic trying to get out.  do you think i can park at the beach club if i get there super early?  idk, never been to a golf tourney before.
