Join the darkside and get a hobie . Save your arms for pulling in fish ..

The thing is, I'm already a member of the Dark Side.  :smt003  But there's no way I can lift my pig of an Outback onto our CR-V, much less my Toyota pickup.  That thing is the Oprah of the kayaking world.  :smt002

Thanks for the well-wishes everyone!

best wishes for a quick recovery!
be thankful you don't have to lift a Hobie Pro Angler!  I have two torn rotator cuffs and I just deal with them, I don't want the surgery.
Fishing is cheaper than therapy!

I lived with a sore shoulder after a car accident for 3 years.  when I finally had the surgery the doctor said the pocked looked like it had been attacked by rats!  the whole thing was a mess of frayed and floating ligaments...no wonder it had been hurting....7 years later its mostly good, but i do have to be gentile with it....if i remember correctly the recovery period was just over a year until it was no longer improving....lots and lots of band exercises...lots and lots ( i still do them too)  the only thing i cant do after the surgery is a HARD overhand throw....no more "who can throw farther" games...

Best
Jim

I lived with a sore shoulder after a car accident for 3 years.  <snip>

Yeah, I've put up with pain in this shoulder for over two years...tried everything else short of voodoo before deciding that I wasn't getting any younger so I may as well have the surgery while I still had a decent chance of healing well.  I'm fortunate enough to teach karate at a college, so I have access to a couple of great athletic trainers who'll kick my ass back into shape too.  One of them is even a lurker on this group, so he knows what sort of kayaking demands I have for my shoulder.  :smt002

Thanks for all of the well wishes!
