I have a bunch of Nets but since I got this one it's all I use, it's netting has a rubber coating and the hooks rarely stick to it, and it seems a little easier on fish. Fits in my hatch. http://www.fishfreakonline.com/egowaderubbercoatedlarge.html

Second that on the Ego nets. I have the large rubber-coated version, which floats. I trimmed 18" off the handle to make it less unwieldy, which works well for me. I like having both the extra reach, as well as leverage when lifting heavy lings.  :smt003

The rubber netting is stretchy, so even though it looks shallow, it stretches well over 12" when called upon.  This feature, along with the weight of the rubber, keeps it from whipping around in the wind.

Definitely recommended if you'll be fishing for bait with sabikis.

I'll add +1 for the nets mickfish posted.
I used the promar and it was great... at first. The promar's require a lot of maintenance to keep them foldable. I own 2 promar's and after one saltwater season each they are no longer foldable. Now they are just expensive nets without the ability to fold and stow.

No matter what you get, I highly recommend getting a coated net. Nothing worse than spending 10-15 minutes after each catch trying to get your hooks out of your net without destroying your lure or the net.  :smt013

in the salt, I think you should get a BIG net.  Mostly it needs to be deep.  A smaller net is great most of the time, but its when you get that really big halibut that you will want the bigger net.

+1

The fancy foldable nets sound cool, but you'll be glad you had a big net when you catch a really big fish.  I go with the biggest salmon net.

My big salmon net is also highly visible because it sticks up high in the air and has a 10" section of brightly-colored pool noodle on the handle (for both visability and floatability). This makes it easy for friends to locate me on the water. And it might prevent boaters from running me over too.

the 24" folding promar......rinse&lube w/some type of corrosion prevent and it will last a long time(after salt outings)
and be sure to put it away before you release the fish or ......

see pic.....it almost got taken back down, and i don't think the fish would have made it out.....good thing i have quick reflexes  :smt044

Collaspible sure helps minimize tangles. With a regular net I seal where the loop comes together with gorilla glue and stuff a wine cork with gorilla glue inside the butt end. A piece of pool noodle around mid shaft more floatation, or also put in a loop - sticking out of the butt - when you glue in the wine cork. Gives that extra insurance for your grip and you can also attach a leash to the loop.

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.
