Mission Bay is easy.  Launch at El Carmel, free parking there.  You can rent a house, etc.  Split with others.  Penny Realty is one of the rental agencies. Or google rentals in Mission Beach or Pacific Beach.

Good call, heck some of the 1 bedrooms are in the same price point as hotels.  I will check into this further.

I read in another S. Cal fishing forum that there is a place in La Jolla that you can shore launch yaks and go for yellow tail at a certain time of thge tear.  I believe it was June or July.  I think that would be a blast to give that session a try.

Yep, super-easy launch.  I was just there.  You can drive right on to the beach @ La Jolla Shores, unload, then park in the lot nearby.  It's actually labled as a boat launch.  The street (Avenida De La Playa!) ends at the beach/launch - easy to spot if you google map the area.  It's about a 15-20 minute paddle straight out to the kelp beds, but it's no fishing from the launch area to some point out (I think there are bouys to mark it).

Looks tempting, but the rates don't say anything about if you have your own kayak and gear.

All gear and kayaks provided, except clothes and fishing license per the site....

I saw that, but what i was saying, if a group of us does go, we already have our own gear and kayaks, do we get a cheaper rate?

It would be cool to get a convoy of yaks cruising south for three or four days.  :smt002

I originally posted Kayak4fish cause thay have a forum just like NCKA. Just log in and hook up with the locals.

Polygamist Al and I stay at Campland on the Bay every March. You can fish right out of the camp. It's on the shore of Mission Bay. Hot showers, pool, store, restaurant. It's 15 minutes from La Jolla. $40 bucks a night. Camp under the palm trees and watch the feral parrots and macaws. Place is cool.  Another thing to consider is fishing the Coronados in Mexico. H&M Landing runs a 3/4 day to the Islands for $80 (includes Mexican license) on the Malahini. Rockfish are open all year and the fishing is good. H&M Landing is on Shelter Island, also about 15 minutes from Campland.
