I saw these crabs traps at West Marine today.  The frame is made of cable which allows it to fold up into a nice small package.  Looks great, but they are selling it for $160.  A bit steep.

Concept looks cool, and kayak friendly. Anyone have experience with them?

Very kayak friendly  :smt007  I'll wait for the price to drop below $100 bucks then maybe I'll get one  :smt003

We had these in the store a few years ago but they didn't sell very well so we discontinued them.
Even in the store they were not easy to close up for storage.
Most customers had the same response to that price.
I still think the folding traps from ProMar or Danielsen are the best bets

If I'm not mistaken, I saw a couple of these at FW in SJ for 50$ on clearance.  Personally, when I picked it up, felt way too heavy.

Those dudes in the video needs to buy some gloves!?

These looks cool, and its a good idea. Saw one at WM recently. It just didn't look/feel like something I'd send to 150ft deep...too flimsy.

$50 sounds reasonable. Just how heavy are they? Can you haul one of these onto your kayak without capsizing?

I couldn't find a wait, but they are heavier than a Danielson and lighter than a fixed frame commercial trap.  I would be concerned about trying to fold one up on the kayak.  Worst case, inclimate conditions and unable to fold up - not sure I could haul two back to shore.

I might try for $50, but the Promars sound like the ticket.  Might be better for the weekend boater.

I'd stick w/ teh tried and true Promar TR-102's, cheap and good.   If for some  reason your trap got lost, better to lose 20 bucks than 150+.

If you lose a $20 promar vs a $150 trap that is a big difference.
