I have a Standard Horizon HX500S with charger for $50. Manual very dog-eared and missing in action somewhere in the garage. But I do have the manual on a PDF file.

It's yours, Al.

Eric, if I did have strippers at my place, I wouldn't tell.  :smt005

Martin, my house is full of buried treasure. Sometimes, I'm surprised at what I find (meaning my house is an absolute mess).  :smt012

prob a bit too far for you too.  kind of comes with the territory living that far from all us other NCKAers.  I have an extra radio that I can sell but its just too far to make the trip.  for now it stays a loaner.

Be careful with the Walmart ones. They are not summergable. Which is really required. Trust me Ive already been down that route didn't even last a season not even close. You cant rinse the salt off is one down fall. I paid $100 for my current and have dropped it in the salt water and gone swimming with it and no problems the last one 1st shower I took getting out it started giving problems. I have the cobra model... That's my 2 cents worth. Walmart will take it back even if its open.

I have been looking too.  I have a shopping list of things I would like to pick up.  Hope Santa Claus is can hook me up with one of them.  Radio, FF, neoprene booties, and a farmer john wet suit.  After reading some of the newbie reports of guys flipping and losing everything, I have held out on going out in open water, well that and 900 other things going on.

No worries--you'll get a chance to flip and lose everything too. Everybody swims.  :smt005

Oh I know that day is coming, just hesitant to go out on big blue without some back up.  I had a near drowning incident when I thought I was 10 foot tall and bullet proof.   I learned more from that incident than I care to admit.

plenty of time to go out and try the ocean with nothing on board your kayak...just do a paddle out of HMB harbor one day when the weather is good..ease your way into it.  i've been taking it easy but now am fairly confident, and have gotten over my seasickness for the most part so i'm ready to go pretty much anytime i have free time.

Don't know if you're still looking, but I had found an ad on Craigslist a couple of weeks ago for a Standard HX-350-S. The guy was asking $80, and I made a lower bid which he countered with a price of $70. I had already made a deal for another so I passed. You might try calling him. His name is Marint Lyons, in Sac. And his number is 916-284-5233. Hope this helps someone.

Yes he is asking $65 now. And I have contacted him to let him know he might be hearing from one/some of you. Here's his email address; [email protected]. And I misspelled his name the first time. It's Martin.
