Ariel,

That's great,

Linda Mar can be alot of fun, I used to shore fish for rock fish from the south point, until i got a Kayak. The rocks under water near the creek took my nice reel after the waves flipped me (thought about wearing a helmet after that).

Nice Dugeness, the last of the year. I have caught Cabazone and other rockies there but haven't gotten a striper yet.....the fight sounds great and probably would have been pretty tough eating so you may have gotten the best part anyways.

Ariel,

Hard to beat your effort and enthusiasm. If there is such a thing as "deserve" a productive day...

I'm picturing you having a fat 40" fish next to your yak and trying to figure out how to bring it home... kind of funny and tragic all at the same time. A real "damn..." moment  :smt044

Thanks for the report!

Another pat on the back to you here! Nice work!... emphasis on WORK! Sounds like you marathon'd the day.

Wanted to thank you again for helping me land my first hali at the ARW last week. & big thanks for taking my picture & posting it. I'd have no document of the experience otherwise.

It's cool to get enthused by feeding people after a good harvest. The day after catching that 19lbs. halibut my family, some friends & their family, all came over and stuffed their faces with Hali-Ceviche and BBQ fillets. I think 12 people had there fill, and I still have a "roast" cut in the freezer that will feed my family another night. I got so excited to see everybody enjoying the food so much. That's a real positive about this kayak working, I mean fishing.  :smt002

great report !! those ocean stripers are super-exciting. i dont imagine too many fish get that close to your yak and live to tell about it. i know of one shelter cove octopus that wished he hadnt got that close.

It closed on June 30th and should be opening up again sometime in November.

Red crab, rock crab, and other crab species are open year round with a 4-1/2 minimum size limit.

Ariel,

I met you a while ago while fishing in Paradise. I was the one on the red kayak who lost the halibut after catching it and trying to get in on a sub-standard stringer.  :smt013. But I do have proof as my avatar will show.  :smt005
I Need to get a game clip.   :smt003
Very nice catch ya got there. I was down at Linda Mar, 2 weeks before your epic crab catch. Haha
My brother Raydog and I were trying to get a feel of what the ocean is like. We beach launched from the south side. Not to bad but I did flip over coming back in. Good thing I didn't have any tackle with me as it was only a trip for exploring and getting used to the big blue. Oh well chalk it up to experience.  :smt005
