My cousin got a free set of the plastic wheels, three of the tackle boxes that fit in the hatch, rod leash and the t shirt.

Windtoys has been a Hobie dealer for over 20 years and have sold Hobie Kayaks since Hobie started selling them. they were the first Hobie kayak dealer in the area. One of few shops that work on the Hobie kayak if you need it. and they carry all of the parts.

John, I don't know if you already got one. Anyway, check out this thread. CCK has a great customer service.

thx Sledge and Tailwalk.  I bought an Adventure from FishEmotion on the forum in April and have taken it out a couple of times (Paradise Butthunt, GS4).  I love it, but the Revo was my first choice.  However, knowing how rare Hobies are listed for sale used, I jumped at the chance.  Very happy, but might still get a Revo if there is a super deal- I'd like a 13 ft yak to fill in the gap, as my other yak is a T160 (another 16 footer).

Thanks for sharing.

Thinking about getting a Revo myself and it looks like they're always sold at MSRP?  Just wanted to see if it's worth holding out for a deal or just pull the trigger soon.

I live in Livermore but was working in Sac.  I stopped at Adventure Sports during a sale.  New 08 Hobies were on sale for $150. off.  They were also willing to include a set of Turbo Fins ( a must have item) for $50.  I called Sunrise and asked if they would match the price.  They did, but sold me a new 07.  Check the serial number.  The last two digits indicate the model year.  I have also had problems getting parts from Sunrise.  I still deal with Sunrise but if my boat needed repairs, I would probably take it to Wind Toys.

If I buy another Revo, and I probably will, I will definitely get one with the new rudder release system.

Good Luck.
Doug

Thanks for the tips.  I'll probably pick up a newer model since there isn't much of a price diff. and finding one used is nearly impossible.

Retailers aren't allowed to list Hobies below msrp, but they can sell them for less. I suggest calling around and seeing what kind of deal you can get. Last year, the economy being what it was, I was able to get a LiveWell and other accessories thrown in with my Revo package.

Very true!  Some still have old stock from last year they haven't moved either and are willing to give at least a small discount on the boat and any accessories you buy with it.  Check with the retailers listed under Classifieds!  :smt002

You can usually score a nice deal during the winter off season.  Most places will give you a brand new year old boat (now if that isn't an oxymoron) for a couple hundred off as they want to unload last year's models.  Maybe I should say an unused year old boat.  Of course this all depends on if you can wait that long and if there aren't upgrades/improvements that you want on the current year.  Hope that makes sense.

John - Sorry for the thread-jack.  This thread has been useful and didn't think I should start a new one.

It looks like a bad economy is the same as winter.  I found a new one for ~10% off and might jump on that.  Although a live-well sure sounds tempting.

I called everybody that carries Hobie in CA. No one has a new previous year model in stock. Every dealer that I talked to was willing to sell the REVO at $1600. Sunrise had a 10% off last week. I bet you can talk them into giving you 10% still. KayakCity was willing to do 10% off and throw in some wheels, but it's a bit far for me. I ended up buying from CCK. Keith seems like a nice guy. Since price is almost equal everywhere, I chose to buy from a nice local guy. I also got 10% off on all Hobie accessories from him. I doubt any dealer will be willing to go lower than 10% off now. According to CCK, the Hobies are selling like hot cakes this year. I witnessed three sold the day I purchased mine. Maybe the economy has turned around some?

One more thing, WindToys (at Santa Rosa?) told me that you have to bring the Hobie back to the dealer that you bought from if you needed warranty work. That's another reason why I chose to buy local.
