I noticed on Hobie's website that the closest dealers to me are CCK in Oakland and Sunrise Mountain in Livermore.  Are there any other dealers near me (let's say within 100 miles)?

If I can get a USED deal on a Revolution, that would be ideal, but haven't seen any on this board or CL.

If new, which places will give me an NCKA break?
Since I'm not in any hurry, is there a certain time of the year that's best for getting the best deal?  Or is anytime a good time given the state of the economy?

thx for your input.

You can probably get a deal on any last year models.  That's the deal I got for my 2007 Revo back in Feb 2008.  I think it was somewhere between 150-$200 off.  That was in Carson City NV.

Hi John,
I drove to Scaramento to get my Revo last year.  The dealer there gets a lot of bad reviews but they were the only ones willing to discount.  They ate the sales tax.  Not a big discount but with sales tax being close to 10%, it was worth the trip for me.  Sunrise, in Livermore is a much nicer place to shop.  I bought my first Hobie from them during their annual sale that's tied to there demo event at De Valle in the Spring.  I think I got 10% off and a further discount on accessories like a wheel cart and PFD.  I think the accessories were 15% off.

john what is your price range?  it is rare to find a used revo. i watched them all last year and saw no more than 10 offered on CL throughout CA for prices I considered to be "good".  the best prices i remember was a fully rigged 07 revo with sail kit for $1100+ on ebay, and another revo for $1100 with a hobie livewell on CL.  both were down in SD and both sold fast.  the rental guys up in lake tahoe sold off their rental revos for $1300, but those were sold within a day.  One other guy in SD sold a revo and an outback for $1800, but that was also gone within a day, before i could make the drive down to southern OC.

the best times from my memory are right around now, and in september - october.  with the economy bad you would expect more people selling their kayaks but it seems that revo owners are pretty darned happy with their rides.

the adventure sports guys in sacramento make good deals on their hobies at the ISE shows.  I bought a new '10 from them for $300 off retail including tax, but they told me not to tell anyone  :smt002 . If you're willing to wait until next year then you might want to chat with them.  that's pretty much what I did all last year, just biding my time until the show.

CCK sells used hobies for good prices but i don't remember seeing them have any revos before.  not sure if they have them as part of their rental fleet.

There is also Wind Toys in Santa Rosa.  I got a great deal from them at last year's ISE show.  It was an unused year old boat.

I bought a PA from Sunrise in Livermore last summer.  I told them I did not want the 10% off on accessories and instead I wanted them to take 10% off the PA.  they did just that, it was a floor model that they had for a few months and I think they were glad to get it out of the store.  plus I paid cash and that seemed to make a difference on them wanted to deal.

Call CCK. They often have used Hobies for sale. I bought my Adventure from Adventure Outdoors in Sac. They have a huge inventory/selection. I see stuff down south all the time. You could buy one when you go down there and use it for a yellowtail trip.

I was at Kayak City in Sacramento on Friday.  They are selling the 2010 Hobie Outback and Revolution for $1600 each.  On their website it states it includes the Hobie delux gear package.

After getting my tarpon 120 from Adventure Sports earlier this year I recommended them to my cousin.  He went in there this weekend and got the $1600.00 deal on the outback.  The guy there said he could also get the same deal on the revo. (I was hoping he went with the revo, I've been wanting to try the one) anyway, he scored a buch of extra gear with it and they gave him a free hobie t-shirt to boot.  Now he thinks he part of the hobie fishing team, lol.

Got my Revolution @ Sunrise.  Decent price, they also rent them @ Del Valle during the summer, I've heard they sell those sometimes.  Mel Cotton's in San Jose also sells them. They didn't used to carry them during the winter though.  They will special order them, but charge you extra for the shipping

If you fish the north bay at all you might consider Wind Toys in Santa Rosa?  Not sure about discounting, as I believe they are striving to be at the same price point.  More important is how long a dealer has been with hobie.   If they have had a good relationship with Hobie for a long time, they are more likely to have the ability to stand behind the product better.  My friends were buying hobie cats from him in the mid 80's!

What kind of extra gear did your cousin score?
Although I said I was in no hurry last month, I'm itchin to get a Revo (buying gear since I don't have time to fish and while waitin for RF season to start).
