How many times have you heard "Don't drink the water"????

I got a nasty bug in Guadalajara in 2000, which I discovered with the onset of telltale soup ass after I left Guadalajara and was just outside of Oaxaca.  Sometimes I think I still have it.  I was on a trip south to Honduras by train, bus, and boat and this was immediately preceding the 2000 Mexican elections.  I had planned on spending the week in San Cristobal but thought better of it, figuring out that spending time in Mexico's poorest state, which was then occupied by the Mexican army and had an active indigenous insurgent movement with the ELZN, was not such a good idea during election time.

So I made a B-line for Guatemala.  Somehow, your innards know how to survive a 5 hour bus trip, even with extreme intestinal distress.  I made it to Quetzaltenango, where I holed up for 5 days leaving my rented room only to go to a doctor and go to the pharmacy.  The election went off without incident, and I went back to San Cristobal and had a blast, then headed to Honduras.

I carry digestive enzymes when eating in questionable places also Kombucha tea in large quantity will wipe out bad bacteria and put you intestines back to normal fast . Even acidophiles tablets will help and there easy to carry.

Welcome home Rich. I can remember well myself. In Mazatlan 1980. It didn't hit until I was in the driveway after coming home from the airport. I unlocked the front door and just made it in time. I wouldn't even want to think about that shit on the airplane.

Elcid Elmorrow <-(sp) tower 84'  partying for a week, eating and drinking pretty much everything!!! got so toasted bought a condo.. made it through customs and ran to the john, barley made it in time... I was sick for week... but man I had a good time...

I feel your pain Rich...welcome home now catch some fish and eat them...put some good pounds on!

Sorry for the shi**. I was in Baja and got the flu or something, started in my sinuses and traveled south......UGLY. I used the Taquila diet to clear things up,
 Cleared things up and I   lost three days !!!
