Dan that is crazy.  I'm sure some the NCKA brothers would have loaned you some tackle.  I love BH, that place has some crazy fat cabbies.  What is with that place and its super abundance of cabazone.

Dang, Dan...  I missed meeting you, but I'd have loaned you some jigs.  But you didn't need it, from the looks of things!  Now THAT'S Savage!

I still had some fish from Fri so Sunday I was just looking for Ling Points, but it wasn't happening for me...  released 5-6 cabs, gophers, and various rockfish, had a great time otw.

Only major snag was my awesome Tempest pants...  on my paddle keeper hook...  as I exited my kayak...  rrriiiip!  It's always something!

But what a great day to be on the water!!!

Aaron, sweet pics as usual!

Yeah, a really great day out there Sunday. It was day #2 for me.

Met up with Aaron, Dave, Sandman, HDRich, Danman and Fishunter early, then EricB, Mike & a few other showed for the second wave.

I had gotten some quality fish the previous day so I was on a catch-and-release mission. I was I ended the day with a score of assorted rockies, a couple nice cabzone, a couple nice lings. All fish released today except for the one hali.

Freakin' great weekend spent OTW with DaBeanCrew!

Thanks for being out there guys, & making for a great time all weekend.

Aaron, I was just daydreaming about fighting a really big cab after reading your post-Albion 24" toad and then I go and catch my 24"er.Mine completely inhaled my scampi and just sat there.I started lifting it up off the bottom and it felt like dead weight. At first I thought it was a hali. Then the cab realized it was hooked and bulldogged me on three separate short bursts.I was using my lighter Loomis Bucara 10-20lb, so I had to watch my drag.As I was fishing really shallow 35fow, I knew that if I gave her too much line she would wrap me up in her cave/boulder.When I first brought her to color I thought ling, but then I saw her huge bucket mouth and knew it was a cab.Planted a deadly gaff strike. When I got her on deck she lunged forward and snapped at the tip of my thumb as I threaded the clip through the gill plate.Ouch!

Between pisciform, sandman, FisHunter (23" on 8/2) and myself there have been some lug cabs caught on NCKA this season. :smt003

Sean cursed me on Sunday. I asked him what was the water temp on Saturday he says" don't know, my FF is on the fritz". So I paddle out, turn on my FF, nada.... Unplug the connector, replug, the FF comes on, says I'm in 600 ft water, then goes apeshit, then dies, then comes back on, then squeals at me, then dies again..

So fishing blind, picked up some quality coppers and an assortment of yummy fish.

The highlight was the Grey Whale that came up less than 20 feet from me. It slid by, then descended, it's fluke about 6 feet across. Twenty minutes later, I hear the blow, look over my shoulder, and its heading right at me :smt010. Yes, I moved out of it's way.....

I kept hearing Aaron beating the crap out of many fish... He was having a good day....
