So, I've got a line on a (barely) used T13 angler for $700. Angler version with a seat.

How hard do I work the price? Or do I take the boat and RUN?

I bought it for $650, BOO-YA!!! I finally have a "fishing" yak! So...how many yaks do you need before you can start referring to them as you "quiver" or your "fleet"?  :smt004

HOWEVER (warning: potential buzz-kill) Apparently this was AlsHobieOutback mango T13, and I heard through the grapevine that it may have had sieve-like tendencies...

Say it ain't so!  :smt010

If Al or anyone else can PLEASE PLEASE confirm what the story behind this boat, I would greatly appreciate it! It will get it's *new* christening at BH tomorrow, and I've found a supersoaker to take along with me just in case. But the thing is absolutely pristine, and I can't find a thing wrong with it. I even stopped by Aquan on the way home and Mooch and I put some water in the hull. No leaks there, but after reading some of the swim posts, I'm nervous.

Here it is below - many of you have already seen the hull, so I'm just showing the deck.  :smt044

Your assumption is correct - no rudder.

But pretty pristine it seems. Going to go see it in person.

Sounds fair, especially if there are any goodies included. I paid $600 for my Tarpon new in 2006.

pretty much the same price as yakhopper sells them for after tax. of course then you dont have to drive to fresno.

i bought my angler version for $649 last year from fisherman's warehouse at the sportsman's show with no tax.

So it seems to be the concensus that this is a good deal, but maybe not "killer".

However, Yakhopper is out of stock on the T13, and it is a drive to Fresno. Blems can go for $800 ish, but then there is tax. Other deals, even with special discounts, seem to put most of the new ones around $900 (pre-tax).

I guess it depends on how pristine it actually is.

Sound like I'm trying to talk myself into it? Yeah, could be... I'm also building the case for the CFO approval (or at least trying to avoid sleeping in the garage).

So help a brother out and add a comment I can cut'n'paste showing what a killer deal this would be, and crazy to pass up!  :smt044

One valid point is that used T13 seem to rarely come up for sale from what I've seen so far. Is there truth in that statement?

seriously its a good deal. $700 with no tax is a good deal. Yakhoppers blems and impossible to see. I've looked at a few and can't find anything but a darker swirl the size of a dime. So I'd say they are new. But yes the drive. He may be willing to bring you one at the Davenport event. (sorry if I am overstepping my bounds). Just trying to push some support your way. And you are right. Few used ones come around. So if you want one. Get this one.

Dangit, every day I'm searching and i still cant find a deal like this. Is it through a friend or what? I cant find one below $900 that is in this area. But if you seem to know please tell me. Thanks.

Actually Scout, it has been through pure perseverence. I was checking ebay and craigslist at least twice a day (sometimes 3x) for over a month. This one was buried within a garage sale title, so it wasn't immediately obvious, but as soon as I saw it was one of the models I was after, and within my budget, I sent the guy an email.

You can also check the thread that Bill created which consolidates ebay and CL in an even larger area - something is bound to come up sooner or later!

i talked to al about this at albion.  Al said it was primarily user error and as far as he knows the boat did not have a leak.  he said his one complaint was that the scuppers in the boat appear to drain rather slowly.

@ Bassmanben - thanks man. Yakhopper also let me know that they pressure tested the hull and found it sound! I'm VERY happy about that!

@ Scout - thanks bro! I see that you may have found your ride as well?!?!?! I'm looking forward to getting out on the water together.

I just wanted to put a little disclaimer on this thread.

I certainly wasn't meaning to imply or insinuate anything shady in any way whatsover. I just realized that this yak had a story to it, and was a little worried that I ought to know more prior to taking it out on the big blue. Anyway, all's well that ends well, and thanks to everyone who had advice on the price and the boat. I'm a very happy camper.  :smt003
