went out of stillwater Saturday, few of the usual suspects there and met flyyaker for the first time.  :smt006

Water was lumpy and the combo of the wind from the south, the steep swell from the NW and fog made for queasy conditions.  Fish seemed to agree, as the bite was slow.    Ended the day with a nice verm, a couple of blues and an olive.  The others did about the same.  Only saw one ling caught by a master ling man.

Nathan has been screwing around with the idea of a sail.  He tested out a prototype at the SC harbor last week so I let him try it on the way in.  Once he got going, he was dropping me like a bad habit, my speed was about 4.5 MPH.

oh and they had a sign up saying access is closed on Friday the 3rd and sunday the 4th.

So you guys decided to pass on Coral St.? The last four or five days it's been nasty out there. Glad to hear Stillwater was fishable. I know what you mean about getting queazy, Stillwater doesn't always live up to it's name especially once you exit the cove. The big tides seem to have churned up a lot of vegetation in Monterey Bay, how was Stillwater? Last week I could hardly keep the seaweed off my line. Cool sail, looks effective. Looks like your boy is rockin the sabiki stick, nice. Thanks for the Carmel Bay report, guys. Glad to hear about the vermilion and assorted catch

an old bedsheet, flannel no less.  Nothing but top of the line here. :smt003  The hardware is bamboo he cut out of the yard.  He has always been a busy kid, puttering with stuff.  His original design had it in the rod holders but then he couldnt use it when fishing.  this one he just holds in his hands.

I'm going to make a sail too. What type of thread-count does Nathan suggest: 500 or 1000 thread count?
