You lazy "peddlers"!!!  :smt044

Darius, I load my kayak on the factory crossbars (upside-down) too. You just have to strap the heck out of it. I strap it through 4 scuppers (2 forward and 2 back) then 2 strap all the way over the top (1 forward and 1 back). Then sometimes I tie-down the bow to the bumper, if it's a long drive or extra windy.
I didn't get a true kayak rack until I needed to transport 2 kayaks. So I got the Thule J-rack. Just put the wide kayak in the j-rack and strap the other one like normal (upside-down on the factory crossbars).

Also, I got my FF on eBay for cheap about 4 years ago. Still works great! (Humm Matrix 27)

i use yakima crossbars that i bought off craigslist.

I load my yak upside down on the crossbars and strap down front, back and two over the mid.  I don't go through my scupper holes because i'm worried about damage there.  I was in a pretty bad car accident with my old kayak strapped to my roof and it held no problem with the 4 straps.

when i need to carry two kayaks i use a j rack just like PK does, 1 kayak upside down and the other one in the j rack.  fits tight, but just right.

From page 2, I do exactly what both PK and BMB do:

I've got a 2000 Ford Explorer with factory racks and that is ALL I use, or need, to transport my Hobie Adventure.  I just turn the yak upside down and strap it down.

If I'm taking both my Adventure and Outback, I still secure the Adventure upside down to the factory rack but for the Outback I have Yakima Hullraisers to turn it on it's side.  Obviously, this probably doesn't apply to you now, but if you end up getting the T140, then it might. :smt003

One thing I think that is worth noting is that you should invest in some bow/stern tiedowns.  I have these but there are many different kinds out there.  Note that they are on sale at this website AND they don't come with the black band in the picture, just the ratchet and hook you see.

Oh, I get it!  I just work smarter, not harder!  :smt003   What can I say, I love to *pedal*.

Don't get the Humminbird Piranha series.  Many people have had bad experiences.  One tube of Goop should be sufficient.

Hooray! Another NCKA brother in the making. Congrats on your new ride Darius.
I can't wait to see how your kayak is going to look like after you are done with it.
Take your time bro. Just get the necessity for now and worry about the little
things later. Just make sure you cover all your safety needs first like a good
PFD,VHF,WISSLE,or that little can of blowhorn and let me see what else missing
here? I guess that is it for now. Have fun during the pimpin process and I hope
to see you on the water soon.

Jedmo
ps You want to invest on a good paddle especially if you are going to hang with
the hard core here. They will take you out for miles and the last thing you want
is a heavy paddle in your hands. :smt003
