Yep, I seldom post hookups because I probably change my plans over 50% of the time in the day or 2 before I go.

Darius, the reverse of your situation is also true (often) a hookup is posted and no one else shows up including the (3)people who have confirmed their plans to join in.

You fell for the old Death Valley pup fish hookup eh?  :smt044

Truthfully, many of the OG on this site don't post hookups anymore because when they/we do twenty plus heads show up, some of whom have no business fishing the spot experience, conditioning and/or equipment wise. You may also be inviting a liability you have to rescue or someone that will do something stupid like tick off the authorities and/or the locals.

My two cents...Come to NCKA mega-events like derbies, camp outs.Make friends and fish with them when you can.Try not to rely on strangers from the internet.

Darius

I will be going out of Capitola saturday.

Ernie (mendohead)will be going out of santa cruz harbor on saturday as well, but he launches at 5:00 a.m.

There are always a few guys going out of SC and if you miss them, just go out there and meet them there at the kelp, mile buoy, it is generally easy to spot them.

If you go alone, you must have a radio, compass, pfd, 18' net at a minumum and let someone know where you are going. Safety first!

I typically go alone from sc or capitola because it is a short paddle and there are others generally out there.
