Check your Ram Balls

Pat, great retro!! That would make em pretty bomb proof. I also us a short section of PVC pipe under mine between the gunnel and the tube that makes it SOLID! Takes most of the stress off the base.

How were you using them when they broke?  No problems so far with mine, they do slip then makes a sweaking sound.  I always leash my rod.

This is pretty disappointing I've broken two rodholders in my life both Ram's both broke in the same place. I was lucky this time last time I lost my fav TLD 5 Looomis rod and a huge dino. It broke easy. I guess that's why they slip.

And here I thought I blew it by going with Scotty's....

They are kinda clunky but I have yet to break one.
