Hey, anybody been over there to troll for stripers this spring?

I used to do a little trout trolling to warm up for the rock fishing season but all the local lakes are closed to me now so I have not been fishing.

If I was going to drive I might as well drive all the way to the whole san luis/forebay (banos something or other lake) and get things wet there.

How's that neck of the woods fishing right now?

"Neck of the woods"?
More like armpit of the woods! Hahaha!

I've read encouraging Forebay reports on other sites recently.

I fished the Forebay a couple weeks back.  Nothing going on for me.   The water was really, really low.  The normal flats out there in front of Madeira were like 1-2 feet deep all the way out to the drop off.  I had to go over by the closed off launch to get to the water without having to trudge through the mud.

No weeds though.  The bottom is littered with clam shells, didn't know there were so many clams there.

FWIW Fish Sniffer says its a slow bite. Water needs to warm up to the mid 50's

Dudes, you all rule, thanks.

Guess I'll stick to the surfing and skateboarding a little longer then, might have to perch it soon maybe just to see what it feels like to get a bite...  :smt009

If anybody hears anything or goes, report it please, thanks!

Sure thing scott. I think there are some other lakes down there in the armpit  :smt006 (like los banos or something?, we'd have to go check the reports and the sniffer etc, but I think you can troll for trout over there not to mention the odd foolish LMB.

maybe not this weekend, but the next?
