Joel..

I thought about the trolling motor but I might be lynched by a mob if I did!!  Yes, lots of paddling, but the excitement when you see the boil is incredible and you forget how tired you are.

One thing I remember about catching these stripers is that their mouths are real tough.  You will not be able to sink the barb into the mouth.  So when you have fish on, never let the line slack and always use the net to scoop him.  I'm sure Sean will mention this again.

BTW -- Sean..

What other lures besides kastmaster's should we try?  I still have the shad swim baits you gave me!

Watch out for my top water gurler flies "walking" on the surface. I modeled them after the one that paddlenflies gave me.

Where is this on the lake?  Where is the camp?

What sort of info are you all willing to spill to us competitors before the tourney?

How deep are the shad schools?

What about bait, should I bring the live well, and were and when can we buy bait?

Is bait legal in the tourney?

Is this a kill or live fish tourney?

So many questions.

Sean, if you feel like it, I would like to call and chat with you for a bit...

I will answer those I can.

Bait is legal as long as it is legal (DFG regs)

You need to weigh 2 fish, alive or dead does not matter. (as far as the rules go, morally it is your call)

Thanks.  I was gonna keep my fish anyway.  They are tastey.  Good thing there is not a dead fish penalty.

Pretty tough to keep a striper alive on a yak anyway.

If you want to maximize your odds be ready for bait.  The bait shop is on notice that we are coming.  I am going to try and get them to open at 0600 the day of the tourney.

All of the action has been right near the camp.

Everything I could tell you is in the article.  Look with binos, troll, be ready for topwater.
