Finally hit the water today! Just in time, I was starting to have withdrawls, or something(just kidding). What a beautiful day. The best thing was there seemed to be zero swell, I had some wind waves and chop but for the most part it was a perfect three hours on Monterey bay. While I was out a sailboat cruised by and someone on board identified himself as a NCKA member. He told me his handle but I might as well be deaf because all I heard was NCKA and something something 19? I dont know but it was cool to know members are out there and enjoying the waters. Ended up keeping about ten sand dabs. I probably caught triple that but had a lot of small ones in the mix. Not that I caught anything to write home about but they are big enough to devoure. The first half of my paddle back was kind of rough due to the wind blowing right at me, though once I hit the kelp line in about 50 ft. of water everything calmed down.

This is definately the kind of report that belongs on ncka.org.  Way to nab some dabs.  And, you didn't forget the mac.  Nice.  Thanks for the report.  JTF

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Thanks, Jedmo. I just kept it simple with a PLine 4 hook mini squid jig (similar to sabiki jigs but a little larger in size). I tipped these with small frozen squid strips to entice the little dwarf bottom dwellers

Steve, are you going for dabs? Last time I fished Carmel(December) I puked all over myself. Due to a large swell, it was my first time getting sick on the yak and hopefully the last. Thats probably wishful thinking though. Anyways, hope you have a good time.

Just got back from "spear-yaking" at Stillwater.
I went shallow and looked all over for cabezon ...and came up snake-eyes.
So, I took it out on the rockfish.
I got a limit of decent blue rocks and a good perch to make it thru til the next good period. Our freezer now has a proper balance.
The water wasn't so clear and the swell was bigger in person then standing on the shore. :happy3:"
Steve

There were too many seals in the water and the otters kittens are half as big as the moms now.
