I have sent a letter.

I thought maybe I should have taken a cooling off period first, but the more I think about it the more disgusted I get.

I was very nice when treated rudely by an Anderson inspector, who attached an inspection band intended for power boats, and nice when inspectors at QL questioned why my kayak was banded at all...  and remained nice when I was told inspection fees were good for only ten days, then 30 days by a different inspector....  I was even nice when I was turned away from Quarry a few weeks ago because "something" was found in the water...

If this "something" was Quaggas...  then WHY couldn't the on-site inspectors ID it????  And if it WAS, then why is there no contingency plan???

And...  this is what really got me boiling...  Why is there no supervisor or manager available on weekends...  Whiskey Tango Foxtrot...  Over!

For the most part the inspectors are cool, but obviously something is very wrong at the management level.

I have gone way above and beyond in making sure I understand what to expect from them, (and at this point I think I would make an excellent inspector), but they have done nothing in the way of ensuring consistency in the way we are treated.  You get different answers depending on who you ask.

I'd love to sit in on a meeting.

reads like they can do as they please, when they please......BOYCOTT!!

we can get trout/steelies elsewhere.....then they won't have to go and inspect nothing, but thier unemployment applications.

Just off the phone...

Elias Hernandez, Jr. called back apologising profusely, saying his staff made a poor decision and have been brought up to speed.

He claims we will NOT be turned away soley because of rainwater...  Still, it is up to the inspector to make the call, but if you a) have been recently inspected, B) have no mud on your yak, then you should be able to pass inspection with a rainy yak.

While I still lost a fishing day, I do appreciate that he manned up, called me this morning, apoligised and accepted responsibility.

The proof is in the pudding...next time you show up in the rain.

Me too! Some birds will soak their belly-feathers with lake water to bring back to their chicks, could spread like that, and ducks eat tons of little snail-nits, I wonder if they could survive a trip thru their gullet?

I posed that question, among others, and he admitted the mussels might get into the reservoirs any number of ways, but they feel it's their duty to at least try...  can't argue with that, really.

One thing he mentioned is they don't drift in current, but rather attach to other objects...  so that's a plus.

When I asked about the plan if/when mussels are in the lake(s), he did not have an answer.  It's still up in the air.

Seems to me they would better spend their efforts figuring out how to clean out the pipes....

That's what this is all about...  water department pipes getting clogged with mussels.

It happens all the time , fish , snails and any other critters that lay eggs in water can and do get transported to other water all the time . Seen farm ponds go totally dry for months in the summer come alive after the winter fill , asked the ranchers if the introduced any fish , etc. into their ponds and the answer was NO ! Does not take long and mosquito fish everywhere , snails also ! Guess frogs and newts could come in under there own power but not fish !

What a s#itty way to lose a weekend.  At least the guy followed up on your message.  A small consolation.
