We passed our 4 year anniversary for NCKA last month - sorry if I missed a thread about it.  Many of the most familiar faces joined on day one, December 7, 2004, and several more of us "regulars" (freaks  ) joined soon after.  I signed up on New Year's Eve 2004.  Anyway, I sure love it here - the community has a great vibe that has proven itself in the 100's (maybe 1000's...) of hookups in "real life" that have come about through our little virtual party.  The quality of people and the spirit of generosity here is unique and deserves high appreciation.

I noted very recently that when our own AOTY was pressed to the extremes of humility and forced to post that he had a "bounty" on him on another board ( ), we responded in a rally of positive force.  Thread Watchers Anonymous keeps Rainman-like stats on things such as replies vs views...   

A good and interesting post (w/ pics, folks, OK?   ) gets 5%, replies to views, so after a few days it has say, 30 replies and 600 views.

A fantastic post or an issue that has everyone eagerly watching will get 10%, replies vs views, so, say 60 replies and 600 views - this is rare.  Watch the ratios as a post gets "mature".  You'll see that the 5% standard is pretty consistent on our average posts (we're good, people!).  Watch for someone's post to top that, and remember that 10% is very rare as the views go up.

It hasn't "matured" yet, and I need to go fishing REALLY bad, but this is a near record, if not the Gold Standard:

Some people just gotta complain.      I think you started this post so that people will reply and you'll get the highest % winner award.

I don't know....if Eric kept returning to his original post, it would potentially lower the Reply-to-View  ratio (henceforth referred to as RTV).
UNLESS....unless....he actually replied to his post each time he returned to it. Hmmmmm.

Also, I think it s/b noted that FisHunter had the best RTV of the sample listed above. Perhaps good documentation with quality pics enhances the RTV..?

RTV - I like it, I like it alot.  And, no, I'm not just pumping my RTV right now - this post was a loser from the begining!   

I did a little more careful research and found that, long-term, hardly any posts can even approach the 5% standard once they're really "mature"!

Haha, true! He actually managed to make a fairly entertaining thread even though it has nothing to do with fishing, really! In fact, it's basically about statistics - I hate statistics - but like the thread anyway...
