Weather looked bad for the big blue so I decided to do the opposite instead.
The reports around the shop said the Browns were starting to bite at Huntington Lake
Arrived at the lake around 10:am and began trolling with the usual hardware (spoons ) for about 2 hours with no luck. Changed to a Rapala Countdown and began to see some action. Someone forgot to tell the Rainbows to let the Browns have a chance. The fish were biting but only a few were actually coming to the boat, most were smarter than I and never got to feel the sting of my hook. As these fish were making a fool of me I noticed a Bald Eagle fallowing me from point to point, probably looking for a free meal ( boy did he pick the wrong angler ). All in all it was a wonderful day on the water and Mother Nature was at her best.
Total for the day;
7 Rainbows released at the boat
4 released on the long line
Countless Bite and run aways
1 Very curious Bald Eagle
Hours of Mother nature
Eric
P.S.
What will this winter be like, Notice there's no snow at 8,000 ft on November, 30

I'd be pretty ^$%#&!> frustrated from all the misses, but the Eagle and UWShot of the trout, would EASILY!! make up for them. :smt004

Sounds like a great day to me Eric! Great pictures. Hard to have a bad day given those surroundings.

Take Care,

Nice report. I haven't fished that lake since I was 13 or so. It fished really well back then. Awesome place. Thanks for bringing back the memories. :smt001

Hey there yakhopper!  I was in your neck of the woods on Sunday at Shaver lake.
It started out slow until I found the spot. Approx 30ft in 60ft of depth or less and using a baby cow bell with a spin n glo #10.  Caught 8 fat rainbows between 14 to 16 inches.  Most were soft hitting ,but some gave a fun fight! Temp. around 69 and sunny, couldn't ask for more. Awesome u/w pics!

Beautiful country, indeed. I haven't been up that way for 3 years. But I'd LOVE to do a kayak-camp trip at Edison next summer. We used to boat across and camp on the shore near the Mono Creek inlet, then do day-hikes up the creek. Fantastic fishing back there.

Last trip I did to Edison, was fish free.  I had my 12' alum. boat and trolled everything I had, soaked PB and worms and got nothing!  We heard later as we were packed up and leaving that  brown roostertails were the ticket as one guy had his limits on them!  Figured there wasn't a single brown Roostertail in alll of our tackle, Plenty of white, black, green, yellow, honnybee, but no brown.  Oh well.
   Really pretty country up there.
