By "the fort" do you mean the historical place?
Where to camp? Isn't there a state campground just south of the fort, same name?
It's looking good, swells shrunk overnight. I'm 90% sure I'll be there tonight.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Juan,
Yes the "historical place" It's called Fort Ross. You can't miss it. For camping, there is a small campground just south I think it's called Reef campground, not sure. Anyways, it's in the ravine in the only redwood stand south of Fort Ross. To the north is Salt Point State park. Good thing is if you get an overnight pass at the campground or day pass it's good for all three places. The Fort is a day time fee, so if your staying the night at the campground, get that pass first, so they don't double dip ya  :smt002 That little campground fills up a lot. Hopefully during the week late season, it'll be alright. I'm more than likely going to stay the night too, so let's double up. With Fort Ross, you are allowed to drive right to the beach and launch, but you have to park at the top, and hike back down to your boat. About a 5 minute walk back.
