Launched @ 7am with Fuzzytom soon to follow. We fished inside the kelp as best as we could. The kelp is as thick as can be. The wind started out as light breeze when we launched and increased as the morning went on. We had to tie up while we fished in the kelp. I hooked a few small Rf and a just legal Cabby, sent them all back. A few hours later I found a good hole and landed a 22" cabby. Got it on the stringer and dropped down again. Hooked onto something good, felt like a Ling or a bigger Cabby, but he let go after a few tugs. Tried to do a little Fuzzytom style trolling but the wind made it difficult without a rudder. The wind and swell made it a bit of a challenge. But as always, it was nice to be out there. Stillwater South is an awesome place to be out and watch the Sunrise. Tom had a nice stringer of fish. I think he got most of them on the troll. Nice fishing with you again Tom.

Man that does look like a big perch. Nicely done. Do they throw in a kayak for that one?

I had a good day fishing with Kimo (Thanks for the pictures), even if conditions were not the best , but not the worst I've seen out there- there were some good swells rolling through the kelp.  All of the medium blues and the perch were taken in the kelp on bare hooks and squid - I hardly touched my paddle for two hours.  That perch had great coloring-brown with purple stripes.  When we headed in, I just started trolling the bottom and had something really big on within about 5 mins, felt like a big ling because it did the zip to the bottom thing twice, but it was upwind and I was downwind  and being pushed away from it, and after a few minutes it  managed to undo my improved cinch knot on the lure.  I got the verm on the troll, and a few olives that were too small to keep.  A couple of other kayak anglers were out there for about an hour, but they were working on the edge of the kelp, not inside like us, and didn't last too long and got skunked.

Thanks for pointing that sand FOX out to me. I never noticed it. Nature has a funny way of making me laugh sometimes.
