You might consider an Ocean Kayak Trident 13.  Smaller boat but big weight capacity (475#) and set up nice for fishing.

The Trident 11 may be cutting it close on weight capacity (350 to 400#) but might also be worth a peek.

EK

we have a trident 13 from a MBK win (woohoo) and with my 280 pound on it, it is fairly wet.  The trident 15 is mostly dry.

will the Ocean Kayak Drifter, trak better than the Malibu Minni-X?
Rory let me use his minni and I had a good time, it was enjoyable, but I can see what the afects of wind could be on the little minni.

The Drifter has a 500 pound rating and 12 pluss long. I want to try this one next.

P.S do you think that the drifter is ocean worthy?

The Drifter is totally ocean worthy, but like I said it's built for comfort; not speed.  Still, it paddles pretty good, but you won't win any races.

Main down fall is you'll be sitting in a few inches of water.

Being a big guy, I will take comfort over speed, it will mostly be for bass on smaller lakes.

Are Ocean Kayaks a good brand of Kayak?,
do they have anny years or models to stay away from,?
only asking this because I see a few old ones for sale that look outdated, and are hard to find reviews on.

That is a spur trail to the con.  It is actually very easy nowadays, but like anything else you can make it as hard as you want.  It is gorgeous, and bring a fishing pole...lots of trout in the surrounding lakes and rivers.

This is the entrance to the Con and pretty typical of what to expect...

As a Big Guy myself I find the Drifter a very stable and comfortable kayak for all conditions. I would be willing to sell it if interested only because I would like to upgrade to the Trident 15 angler with more bells and whistles. Let me know if you would it is only 1 year old and would include the seat.

Last time I did the Rubicon, was in 93'  I also miss it up there.  Used to go voer it every year on Memorial day Wknd  back in the day.  Yes those are real boulders!  Toss in some water (Mud) and it gets real sporty if you don't have lockers.
