There are some serious drops on this creek. Very dangerous water. Trying to copy these guys, no doubt. http://www.oregonkayaking.net/creeks/big_kimshew/big_kimshew.html

Nothing posted on boof.com about anyone missing.  My guess is that it was intentionally abandoned due to the damage and the boater hiked out.  Moreover, it's likely the boat was abandoned months ago when the river was on... water has been way too low for that run for a few months now.  It's also doubtful that anyone with class V+ skills would have progressed to that level if they ever boated alone.  I've seen boats abandoned in some pretty hairy places, and several times a year guys post on boof.com that they had to abandon their boats due to injury or damage.

My take is it was a slow news day so someone picked up on an "abandoned kayak" and ran the most sensational story they could come up with.

Check that... there is a post on boof.com... word is, a couple guys abandoned their boats there a while back...

Takes some big sack and durable shoulders to run that stretch!
