Spent A couple of days at the lake with my girlfriend. Thanks for the passes Sin!!!  :smt006, saved me around fifty five dollars. :smt001. Fishing started off real slow. The water temp was like 80 Deg.While sitting around the campground which was right on the water my girlfriend hooked into A nice catfish that I estimated at weighing around fifteen pounds using chiken liver as bait. Not being really experienced she tried to lift the kitty out of the water around her feet with about six pound test line. :smt011. Pop!! there he goes kinda in slow motion. The funniest thing I ever saw her trying to grab it by the tail. :smt005. Never did hear the end of that for not helping her land it. :smt009. Anyway got into A nice boil of bass with no hookup. The following day it was my turn to get laughed at.Set my pole on the shore with the same kind of bait and propped it in my rod holder. Walked over to the ice chest for A coldie which was about 20 feet away when the bells start ringing. By the time I dropped my Heineken and turned around There goes my pole skiing on the top of the water into the depths of the lake. :smt010 My brand new ugly stick with my cheepie Shimano reel. All in all had allot of action but no fish landed.Next time I will leash my rod...Andy

Bummer about the lost catfish and the rod! I’ve lost a couple rods to catfish while nightfishing. But I never got to see my rod ski into the lake. Surprised you didn’t go swimming after it.
I’m looking forward to hitting San Anton’ in October when the stripers heat up. Glad you enjoyed the camping passes. Campgrounds are charging an arm-and-a-leg these days.
See you this wknd,
PK

AHAHHAHAHAHAH!  Reminds me of the times I used to pier fish...  Every once in a while someone would forget to set the drag lower and a pole would just fly off the pier!  But since its a lake, hell I would have jumped in after it!

Sounds like you had a good time out there, catching a buzz and loosing gear!!!

Now thats what campin is all about!  Passed out on a chair bout ready to fall over! Yeah suck about watching your pole run away.  I know that feeling, Although a fish didn't take mine, my lure being trolled snagged bottom and before I could grab the pole, I watched it pop out of the backward facing rod holder and plop into the water, slow motion.

Dude, that passed-out-in-a-chair pic is classic! If only you had a fishing rod in one hand and a Heini in the other......
