I was introduced to this site by some kayak fishers who had posted on Dan Blanton's Board about their catches in the salt by kayak.    I have been reading the posts and just signed up  not more than half hour ago.

I love fishing and have been an avid fisher for trout, stripers, bass, bluegill, shad and surf fish.   I have a couple kayaks that i have tinkered with and absolutely love.   Now its time to combine the love of  kayak and fishing.   While I know about fishing, I dont know enough about kayaking, and even less about combining the two.   Having had more near death experiences than i care to repeat, including one where my kayak got destroyed while i was trying to fish, I am trying to have enough sense this time around to go with others with more experience.

I live on the SF Peninula (near San Mateo) but would go to wherever the fishing are biting.  If anyone wouldnt mind fishing with a greenhorn, please shoot me a reply.   I look forward to meeting you all some time in the months ahead.

If you ever want to come up and fish the north coast for rockfish, I'd be glad to take you out.  I have quite a few spots where the launching is easy with little or no waves and good fishing close to the lauch.  I live in Windsor, just north of Santa Rosa and it is typically  a little over an hour to two hours from my place to these locations.  Enjoy and welcome.....

Welcome to NCKA. I will fish with anyone and almost always post in hookups, so check it out.  :smt006 If you would like to fish big blue, a kayak surf and paddling lesson is a good idea. Joel (Mooch) at Aquan can set you up with a good lesson and is one of the "luminaries" of NCKA.

Welcome Flyaker,

I'm located in San Mateo as well.  Also a greenhorn.  I try to get on the water(fishing and/or paddling) about 2-3 times a week.  Let me know if you'd like to meet up.

I think I might've been the one who shed some light on the dark side over at Blanton's site. Welcome to the Madness Lawrence!
Man, I was wishing I had my flyrod on Saturday. The blues+olives were literally jumping out of the water as I ripped a 3/4oz srpo bucktail across the surface (in open pockets between kelp) with my lightweight bass setup. It was a lot of fun and those guys put up a great fight on light gear.
I look forward to seeing (and experiencing) the next evolution of ocean kayak fishing: rockies on the fly.
Take care,
PK

Thanks for the warm welcome to this kayak madness.   IT really is driving mad, thinking about kayaking and fishing all the time, like a fisherman in heat.   Yes, I read your post on Blanton's and you introduced me to this site.  Many thanks!   I have been in touch with some great folks here and am looking forward to fishing together.   So many places to fish, so many new things to experience - yet so little time....

Congrats on the great day Saturday.   Sounds like an incredibly fun time.   I am looking forward to experiencing rockies on the fly.
