I'm hoping somebody will talk me into a trip out of Moss Landing followed by a steaming bowl of cioppino at Phil's... anyone? anyone at all? Bueler? Bueler? Okay fine, if that doesn't happen I'll be heading out of SC harbor at 7:30ish. Out of the water before noon. Halibut will be the target prey of choice. Bueler?...

I would like to go to either launch. I haven't been to Moss since early this year for some sanddabs.
Never tried for butts there, but it should be ok.

If you want to hook up, let me know other wise I'll go out of sc harbor and go to the lighthouse and mile buoy.

Whoo hoooo! You can't see it, but I'm doing my happy dance now :kick

My intel tells me that there doesn't seem to be much bait down at Moss... not in comparison to SC and Capitola anyway. I'm perfectly happy to trooch some popsicles if you are. Likewise, I'm just as happy to work out of the harbor. I just think it would be nice to try a different locale than the usual suspects. I'll PM you with contact info to work out the details. Nice to hear from you - Kurt.

Thanks for the intel, Andy. I think we're gonna head out of the harbor and hit the lighthouse. Looks like I'll have to take a day off this week and try your advice :smt003... the boss will be thrilled.

I've always want to paddled up to the pipeline for rockfish, then drift back for halibut.

from moss you mean?  Me and chucke did that last july.  helluva workout, but we scored neither salmon, butts, or cod - just massive mack attacks.  We could not find that dang pipe

I've fished the Pajaro pipeline about 5 times from a boat. And every time we limited on RF and got a few keeper lings. Afterwards, we'd drift for 'buts. Only got one keeper 'but out of those 5+ trips. But twice we hooked up a thresher; the first time on a smelt and the second time on a mack (these 2 occasions were a year apart though).
In the past, I used an online mapping program at maptech.com to locate the pipeline and plug it into my GPS. But it seems like maptech isn't free anymore. Since then, I bought the Navionics gold charts and it shows the pipeline. But I agree, it would be a healthy paddle (like 3 miles uphill?) to get there. There's another pipeline to the south of Moss that is closer, but not as productive, and the paddle back to the harbor might be tough against a NW swell w/that standard offshore wind in the afternoon.
