Planning on going out to Capitola next Friday morning before going camping at Mt. Madonna later that day.  Should be there at around 5:30 to ensure parking :)  Probably launch off the Wharf for convenience.

Camping at Mt Madonna s/b interesting. The recent fires might have taken a toll. I wouldn't be surprised if they prohibited fires for the next month.
There are a few bass ponds nearby. Let me know if you want the lowdown on those.

Alshobieoutback

I have decided to stay in the area this weekend instead of a trip to Yosemite.
the wife has a sore leg (not sure waht's wrong) so a hiking trip is out for me.

PM me and we can get together, or I might seen you on the water the 4th from Capitola

Right ON Stoggie!  I was kinda figuring on seeing ya there anyway!  :smt005  Getting packed up right now, planning on leaving at 5:00AM, be there around 5:30 for launch.

Btw, last weekend when I went, I was able to get one of the "free" spots close to the pier up on the left.  When we were leaving, looked like they were installing replacement meters!  So, probably no free parking this time around...

Cheers!

Kind of off the subject but still on the subject of Capitola, can somone give me the lowdown on where I should launch from? I know where the train tracks are where the free parking spaces are available. I lived there many years ago. My memory however does not serve me as well about the wharf. I am new to fishing in that area and will be going out on Wednesday probably. I am also pretty new to saltwater and have been doing most of my kayaking on the Colorado and lake Mojave, I live in laughlin.

Key Karl1,

You can launch right off the wharf, for free!  They have a ramp and a floating dock, and its easy as pie.  Just drive down the wharf, drop off your stuff, and re-park up the hill.  You can also launch off to the right hand side of the wharf, a really easy launch too.
