Family times with the swimming pool and BBQ'd tritip, dogs, and burgers at the cabin in Phillipsville today got over with a sleepy drive up 101 from 90 degree weather back home to the coast at 4:30.  I had some yard duty that I quickly dispatched as mama went grocery shopping.  When she got back I was ready to pack the truck and jet over the hill - the buoy report was just right, but no partners calling back...  I was determined to fish inshore for a cabezon, and when I arrived around 6:30 I saw it was so flat I could do that wherever I'd ever wanted to drop a ball of ab guts.  But the outside reef called way too strong.  I was mesmerized by the silky smooth water and orange sun.  I paddled out and fished a couple of great hours on my favorite reef, with the dolphins buzzing me (hope I got a little on video...), the wind barely a factor, and the fog finally descending on me at 8PM, making me glad my GPS and compass backup were attached to me and in full working order.  I ran big hardware only - 10 oz leadhead with big white quadruple tail, 6.5 oz. Dorado Megabait...  and I had a bare hook over it that I didn't want to cut off in case I ended up bait fishing later.  So the bare hook gets hit like half a dozen times - little yellow tail, little blacks, a blue...  But not much action on the big terminal lead and iron tonight.  Got one big black, one nice vermillion, and one fiesty china.  I kept the red.

The water was magic water.  I couldn't have been in a better place.   :smt001

Thanks, all, for kind words - it's much appreciated.   :smt001

I'll try to get a video up before it's stale!   :smt002  Damn film crew ( :smt006) takes too much footage, so review, compilation, and editing is a bitch!   :smt003

I was also thinking it's getting kinda played out...  Believe me, I'm trying to think of new angles on the fish porn!    :smt004

Reads like you had a good trip....quality family time first...then off to Quench the Madness! Can you believe the WX this weekend....even though it's still slow, getting out when it's like this, then showing it, is what drove me to do this Ocean stuff, instead of chasing down the smaller game in the overheated local lakes.(not that there's anything wrong with that) :smt003 but getting damn near yanked over the side of your Yak, after that BigFish hits it and dives down, is FRICKEN ADDICTING!  :smt005

any ANGLE you Dandle your Camera..as long as it's got some HardCore F.P...it's gonna be Viewed, Appreciated and Loved by the REAL FisherPersons that want and need to see it.

You'll actually never read of a lurker lamenting of his lurking... because he only lurks.  You, Dale, are no lurker.
