It's been WAS - Windy As Shit - lately.  Saturday isn't looking much better at the Cape (15-25 knot forecast - it'll probably blow 30-40...), but the swell should be light.  I'm hoping to either hike to Fish Bay with Roleez or go the other way to Trinidad.  I want fresh fish, and I have to get in the water soon - I'm having withdrawls...   :shaking2:

Rockfishing is open north of the 40-10 line, which is a few miles north of Shelter Cove.

I'm shopping for a couple of eater lings in the 10-15 pound range - wouldn't mind playing with a big mama for video, still-shot and adrenaline purposes, but I'm mainly wanting to EAT!

Also on the shopping list:  a few blacks, a red or two, a cab would be nice, a 10" ab would be cool, but I'll settle for a 9.5 if that's all that presents itself.

I too am more fond of smaller lings for food, fewer worms..

Thanks, Buddy!   :smt005  Sorry, PK, I'm aiming to unseat your big ling before my birthday, but I'll be happy to guide you to some fatties if we meet up in Humboldt this Summer.  I won't mind at all if I get to video someone else pulling in a whopper - so much glory in the footage for me now!   :smt003

Video Geek out.   :cyclopsani:

I hope it lays down for you and you don't end up having a Hawk victory at sea adventure. The weather down in Monterey has been ok. I did get a couple on the shopping list today, the big red, a 5lb cabbie, several 15" olives, etc. Ceviche and grilled fish tacos for Friday night.

I think the best window for fishing will be Sat afternoon. I've got kayak tours all morning then I'm gonna hit Trinidad and fish till twilight. The fish here tend to be wormy this time of year but I'm hungry enough for fish tacos that I'll just cook the s@%t out of them. I could be talked into a Cape trip if it lays down enough and Abkings driving  :smt003

I think tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn is the best opportunity, but the wind will come up quickly, if it subsides at all.

Trinidad sounds like it'll be nice - 5 knot wind forecast and 4' swell is SWEET.  I'm still up in the air about whether I'll head north or south.

What time you done with tours, Hawk?  You finally got a nice Saturday!   :smt001

.SAT...NW WIND 10 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 4 FT. NW SWELL 2 TO 4 FT AT 11 SECONDS.

Potential epic conditions - wind forecast a little higher than I like to see, but wow!   :smt001
