Adam, I think the pain in your ankle is from using your toes to work that camera for the amazing underwater images.  :smt044

I'm surprised the medical journals have not discovered da mooch.
genetically he's spanish/italian or something, but raised in the philipines,
so the nature/nurture question of gout could be studied if we can
find a microscope big enough to stuff him under!

As for diets, I think too much work and eating has one in line for me soon too,  :smt011.

I've had occasional lapses into the sore toe of  gout, but have managed to keep it at bay without prescription drugs. I understand that there is a fairly cheap and reliable pill you take every day that darn near amounts to a cure.

In my case I drink my fair share but that doesn't really bother my gout. Since gout is an inability to filter uric acid out of the blood which is elevated by eating high purine producing foods, I do several things.

1) Bing cherries - they have a chemical that actually attacks the uric acid in your blood and reduces it. Best to drink a concentrated cherry juice.

2) Strawberries - Do the same as cherries, but not nearly as potent

3) Drink lots of water - The water passes through the blood steam and my guess says it helps move the purines and uric acid through.

The funny thing about having gout, is, I have also discovered I have Gilbert's Syndrom (pronounced ja..bears, doctors like to sound cool when they say it). This is exhibited by an underperforming liver that doesn't get all the bile out of your blood. It causes a slight yellowing of in the whites of the eyes, occasionally. It is actually, not considered a disease or life problem. What's weird is it's another blood filtering problem sort of like gout. Do any of you other gout guys have it? I sometimes wonder if it is related to gout.
