Hi Jeff I made up a fixture at work so I could chuck the rod extension up in the lathe and turn it down .015 larger then the inside of the 1” PVC SC.80. Then cut a 2-1/2 piece of 1” PVC   drilled and riveted the two together, but before I riveted them I mounted it on my kayak and turned the rod holder slightly towards the bow to give me a little more room to paddle. The rod extender was a Scotty #259 witch I bought at the Pro-Bass shop in Oakland they where 9.99 each. I think the extender are a 6-1/2 extension and the one I cut down is 3” it seams to work real well for me. Hears a couple of pic for you , if you need some help PM me  :smt006.

IMHO there is no better way that taking the yak out on the water and let everything melt away - just you and nature, and maybe a fish or two.  Good for the mind, good for the soul.
