Caught 3 small black rockfish, released. Also a 14.5 " bocaccio, kept. .75 miles off light house, a couple of pb's about.  Pretty slow on the fishfinder but the most beautiful  day with moderate winds you could wish for.

Nice bocaccio Casey!! I paddled out of the harbor after work yesterday. Beautiful conditions but no fish. It gets dark too early these days  :smt012

Where did you launch?

Afternoon launch from harbor, better the 20 minutes of extra paddling than dealing with the sand on cowell's.
I almost always catch rockfish out there but sometimes only a couple, and it takes time. Get one of those gps fish n maps.If I had a car I'd probably never fish there though.
If you go out again before the season end, get beyond the red plankton bloom. Things clear up a bit further out.

If you go out again before the season end,

I think we need a season ending SC sendoff, guided by Casey7.  I'd pay $$ to see you get Mooch out and make a believer of him!!   :smt005

For real though, we need to do a group paddle before it closes...suggestions?

Thanks for the tip Casey. I just consider Santa Cruz, Capitola and New Brighton Beach as my own personal "Fish don't exsist Triangle"  :smt011 Even if I tried, I couldn't even catch a desease if I wanted to  :smt003

Anyway, nice catch with the Bocaccio  :smt023 Those things are rare! I've only caught one, about 2 years ago in Monterey. Notice how BIG their mouths are  :smt104

Uhhh...thats not Monterey, Mooch. I recognize that rock formation in the background. Thats actually my own private beach.  :smt002  When you gonna make it back down there? Nice little bocash...but they get a heck of a lot bigger than that!

Thanks for the great report+pic, Casey! Its good to see somebody gettin rockies in SC still.
