One of the Mayes bros once got towed about 2 miles, is how I remember it - Shelter Cove, maybe 6 years ago or more.  Otherwise, my thresher experiences have mostly had them circling around until tired out - up to an hour.

Very nice job all around, and I am especially impressed with your rapid media processing and video production!  I used to do that.   :smt005

Ride it out for all it's worth, my brother.  Great stuff!

Thanks for sharing the experience and video Joe.  The second Thresher almost as as long as your kayak  :smt007

I you let go of the tail, you lose control of the fish and it was too long to reach the head while holding the tail. I had to hold onto the tail across my chest for 40 minutes (with occasional dunkings to keep it moist) as I dragged the shark 1/2 mile or more to a beach where I could unhook it and measure it. The whole time Mabel was getting licks in despite my constant protestations.

I'm bummed that I didn't take video of the release. It initially swam in really shallow water along the beach with Mabel running parallel and wading in after it. I followed and was able to shoo it into deeper water.
On the smaller shark she jumped in twice. Silvery fish excite her even more than other fish. I think I really did need to hold her back on that great white last week or she would have gone in.

Neat video and story Joe!

so cool!!!  my friend says they taste like Swordfish, and makes great steaks.

Not sure about the rest of you guys but I like to believe sharks and I have an agreement.

I don't eat them and in exchange.....
