One so far. I’m upriver rolling anchovy behind a cone flasher at 24’ on the DR. According to the fish finder screen, the fish are all over my bait, but not willing to commit. Will update if anything interesting happens.

End of day edit:
No further fireworks after the 2nd fish. Found loads of marks, many of which came up from the bottom and tagged along with me for a while before losing interest in the anchovy and heading off.

For those that may want to give Hogan’s striped bass a try (and I recommend you do!) here is what worked for me.

I launched from the main ramp, next time I will try from the pavilion in the campgrounds to save a bit of distance on the water (need to remember to bring wheels!)

Note- the bathrooms are a wreck, bring your own TP! Had a few minutes of panic as I ransacked the car looking for napkins.

Headed straight for this island about 1/3 of the way upriver, it has a floating bathroom on the north side cove and a big bay that always seems to hold fish.

Dropped one line with a rolled anchovy and blue rolling cap + spinning flasher (24’) and the second with a clear cap, no flasher (20’).

Both fish came from this area on the flasher rig at 24’.  Most of the power boats went further up the river arm for those who don’t mind a real long paddle.

Hard fighting fish too, each fish took a number of blistering runs before coming to the net. Released to become somebody else’s fish taco’s!

Oh, trolling speed between 1.2-1.5 mph

Nice couple of stripers!  Thanks for the report.  Something different than the delta.

I love trolling for these guys at Hogan. I know there are a few other lakes that have got them, is this the only place people troll for them?

Not sure about what lakes people troll for them.  I do most of my trolling for stripers in the Sacramento and Feather rivers.  Also, in the Delta around Rio Vista (west bank)

Right on, congrats & thanks for the report!
Millerton has some big stripers if you’re looking for other foothill reservoirs with stripers. But they’re not as plentiful as New Hogan (or San Luis Res/O’neill Forebay in the valley).
