It has been a LONG time since I have considered the NCKA a credible resource for gear advice or any sort of kayak info at all.  I still don't, but I haven't watched the industry in a while and who knows, someone here might have spotted something out there on the topic of paddles for the high seat positions....Im guessing no, but I'd really like to be wrong this time...

The product I am searching for is

A neutral bent shaft.
260 cm long
A high angle blade somewhere between 620 and 720 cm2.
Feathered around 30-40 degrees or adjustable.
Weighing in at around 30 oz.

Come on NCKA, you bunch of hacks, prove me wrong and show me this paddle.

Im already using a 260cm but its a straight shaft and while it's functional I don't enjoy it like my other paddles..

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

I would ask a company like eddyline if they can make a paddle to your specifications.

2024 Stealth Elite 530

 Eddyline..... wow

Another example of the NCKA not being a resource.

Geez, normally I'd skip this due to the attitude but you've been around a hell of a long time and have input here that shouldn't be immediately discounted. It makes this difficult though.

Last new paddle I purchased was a Werner carbon shaft camano which has worked well for me as a traditional paddler, who prefers a low angle cruising style.
I assume you checked the usual quality paddle manus like Werner so I'll skip the brand names. My BIL picked up a new model of Werner that was designed as a more high angle, power blade since he prefers a quick power punch. Sorry I don't recall the model name. Might not be suitable though since we are paddling low CG old style seats rather than the taller ones popular today.

Best I can do is suggest looking at some specialty paddling mags and see what the younger gens are using on similar kayaks.

I would give Dan at Headwaters in Lodi a call.  He is a wealth of information, dedicated to the sport, and supports NCKA.  He will be able to get you what you want.

Thanks for rescuing the thread S.  Only you and very few others could really participate on this one.

When I decided to commit to riding tall, I did the time searching for the right paddle.  I had to wait until the paddle companies started making something longer than 240s. When it did happen, nobody was offering a bent shaft. I talked to Werner and they said that they would not be able to make a bent shaft 260. The length was the absolute, and at the time, they didn't offer the blade that I was interested in using, but I needed the long paddle and I settled on the straight shaft.
Spent a lot of $ on a paddle that I do not enjoy.
It's unnatural for me and skills that usually flow are forced.
Its tough to believe that there are not other paddlers out there that choose the neutral grip and use blades that come in mens sizes.  So, I was hoping that one of the quality paddle producers would have started making the right tool for the job.
Bending Branches seem like they were trying to evolve when I was shopping and I might have to check with them. Ive tested their stuff in the past and they were always inferior to what I was using.
I might need to contact Lendal and ask about a custom build.
I tried using my 240 corryvreckan not long ago and it just confirmed that I have to have 260 on these chairs.

I was actually going to suggest bending branches, but I also found their products to be less performance oriented than other manufacturers.
The paddling world has evolved a LOT in the last 10 years, so they are probably worth another look.
well, a quick look at the BB site doesn't show and bent shafts, and it looks like their longest is 240...
I would be surprised if there wasn't a bent carbon, high angle 260 out there though.
I recall some Olympic surf ski guys were coming out with a high end paddle line some years ago. Those were all carbon, slight bent, super high angle too.

Went to the bending branches site as well. Not impressed with the site. Ive seen better products from them out there. I think its a popular brand for kayak fishing "pros". Doesn't that mean they are good?
I might need to turn to Facebook to search for current paddling info.

I just saw this...and I haven’t googled it...but have you checked with AT yet? I have an old Adventure Technology 230 full carbon bent shaft...that I got from Racin Rob maybe 7yrs ago. I toyed with the idea of adding pvc or something to turn it into a longer 1-piece paddle (when the spring lock needed to be replaced). Instead I just bought a new pkg of spring locks. I hardly ever use the paddle nowadays because the blades aren’t ideal for the 2 yaks I use most frequently (revo 16 and kraken 13). Maybe helpful, maybe not? :-)
