Jason loves stinger trebles and I despise them. In fact, I gave all my treble hooks away (probably to Jason if I remember correctly). Can't argue with Jason's score though, he's clearly in the lead this season  :smt002

Btw, I like circle hooks for halibut in certain situations...

I always use a treble stinger when trolling-lots of short strikes. The second hook can improve the rolling action of the bait as well because it keeps the bait bent if placed properly.

I used to use Gamakatsu size 4 but have since switched to Owner, which I believe has better rust resistance, but still size 4. About half of my trolled buts are hooked with the treble in their mouth.

I like to tie a sliding hook rig with a 1/0 3X treble on the bottom, and a 1/0 octopus for the slider, but only use this rig when drifting whole squid.  Squid is hooked on the end of the tip through the octopus hook, and the treble has gets one leg of the treble shoved right up the mouth of the squid, leaving the other two exposed but covered by the squid body.  This was my go-to for WSB, and the treble was most often what caught the fish.  Few butts took it as well, but I normally like to use one circle hook and a sliding egg sinker for that and match a hook size to my bait, chovies or sardines, whatever.

I use either Gamakatsu size 4 trebles, or Owner Zo wire trebles size 4, for my stinger hooks. the owner in my opinion the best quality treble hooks you can buy. They are stronger for the metal diameter and sticky sharp. There’s a reason you find owner trebles on most high quality Japanese swimbaits/ glidebaits and high end slow pitch jigs. Hop

Hope that helps

With the exception of small trebles for holding power bait when I trout fish, I have ditched trebles.  I may have some freshwater stuff I still need to convert.  I also am not the biggest Gamakatsu Siwash hook fan. I think they are too spindly compared to Owner.  Just can't hardly find Owner around here.  Gami could make amends with me if they made those big river hooks as an open eye.
