Try Lake Chabot.  I have a friend who is doing good there.
Interesting.  I love Lake Chabot.  Big LMB lurk there, as well. https://fishsniffer.com/index.php/2017/12/18/lake-chabot-features-trophy-bass-crappie-trout/

My preferred trolling setup is a sinker slide connected 24 inches (or so) above a 4 inch dodger. Behind the dodger you can run a variety of trolling spoons, lures, or worms. Worms or low action lures should be close to the dodger (8-12 inches) so they have some action. You can clip various sized weights onto the sinker slide to add depth. If you use a duo-lock (or similar) to attach the lure you can make quick changes. I've setup a couple of older Calcutta 250's with metered Fireline so that I have a consistent set-back.

For a simpler setup, try small keel weights in front of an F5 flatfish. I've had luck with this setup on shallower lakes. Good luck out there.

I usually troll a carolina rig setup with a powerbait mice tail. I've had good luck with this in the smaller lakes like Shadow Cliffs.

Back in the day, when we were able fish loch Lomond (In Felton) in our own kayaks I used  1/4 oz Roostertails trolled way back (100' or more) and typically got hits after turning at the dam as the lure sank during the slack turn.  Also found that by trimming the hairs on the covering the hook just past the hooks I stopped getting short strikes.
Some times I'd put a multi flasher (Mini blades) on to help.
On some lakes up in the Sierras I run lead line and have 5-6 colors out running same lure, Roostertails.
Having FF help was also key when using my down rigger.  I was able to present my Roostertails at the depths fish were marking.

I've been slaying the trout on Berryessa with these.  Troll around 2.5 to 3 mph.  Great for the winter bite when fish are near the surface.
