So i had to send a rod in for a warranty claim.2 weeks later i get a tube delivery, yes!

So on the last fishing trip a friend of mine set the hook on my rod and sanpped it at the joint, then with the rod snapping it falls out of his hands and breaks the 1st guide.

So long story short i open the rod tube and i was like wtf is this?its a daiwa emblem pro,the rod i sent in is a team daiwa surf rod.the rod they sent me is the lower model emblem pro.

So i called the customer service and they told me that they sent me the lower model cause i didnt pay full price for the rod,i got it on sale at a discount so they sent me the lower model.

WTF!really because i bought the rod on sale your replacing it with a cheaper one?the guy says yes.i told him, what does what i pay for the rod have anything to do with the warranty claim?he said theres a price difference, that has nothing to do with the warranty, nothing written on their warranty says that you get a lower end rod if you dont pay the full price.

So im waiting for the service manager to call me back, its been 2 days.i just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

Rod i sent in team daiwa surf 189.99 i pay 125.oo on sale
The rod they sent me dawa emblem pro 99.00
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Dude that’s messed up!! The Team Daiwa surf rods are 100x better than the Emblem surf rods. Only rod I ever broke while surf fishing was a Daiwa Emblem rod!

That is really shady.

so If I have to warranty replace my Lexa 300 that I got on sale, they gonna send me some lower $ reel? that's fucked.

if that's your phone number in the photo, edit that out.

I've had warranty replacements from several other brands, never had any problems. Once Penn tried to send me lower end replacement (original was out of sale), but they asked first and were reasonable when I declined.  This is absolute BS.

Don't wait around for their warranty service department to get back to you, contact corporate customer service.  Sometimes one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing....

So i got off the phone with the sales manager today.he said that because american legacy fishing clearence out alot of rods.he cannot honor the rod for rod replacement.i asked jim what does that have todo with me?he continues on to say that i didnt pay the full price for the rod. He saud that if o return the rod to american legacy they would only give me the 125.00$ i continue to tell him what does the store have to do with the warranty. He keeps going back to the price i paid for the rod.he then adds that american legacy clearence out steez rods for only a few hundred dollars when the actual price is 500+.i continue to ask him what does the price of the rid that the store sells it for have anything to do with me?he then goes even if he wanted to he cant due to the rod is discontinued.so i asked him, isnt that the reason that american clearenced them out because daiwa is discontinuing it?so how can he say that its american legacy fault for selling it lower then the msrp and my fault for not paying the retail price.i then asked him jow come he didnt call ne first with this issue?he says"i cant call everyone ."
What a lazy piece of shit dirt bag.im selling all my fauwa crap and never buy anything with the daiwa label on it again

Mienboy, NCKA boycott of Diawa products sounds appropriate.

sorry to hear about the situation, Vince. That sucks. I wonder at what percentage of a discount disqualifies a product from warranty.

Contact BBB and file a complaint. Tell Diawa you did so when you call them back and you are in contact with 7 on your side or one of the news agencies that deal with consumer problems. It's worth a try, it has worked for me in the past.

Good luck! That is BS.

Another headsup.

So i got a call from daiwa the yesterday.i talked to the supervisor,he told me that if i sent the replacement rod in he'll send the right one.i told him if he wouldve gotton to me sooner i would've still have it.so i thought the manager was aaron and the supervisor trevor is above the manager?i told him its too late,i sold everthing of daiwa that i own and will never buy anything that daiwa makes again, ever!well he goes on and apologises for what happen and said if i can get the replacement rod back,he'll send the right one.i told him how rude his staff was with this from the get go and that this whole thing shoulve never gone this far.all he says is "sorry, without the replacement rod theres nothing he can do"
I said it is what it is,he just goes on and says sorry and if i need anything else from him to contact him🙄really?he said he just heard of the issue a day ago and he called me right away.
What it is,is that i filed a complaint with the bbb and that hes worried about if someone gets wind from the bbb that he will get in trouble.

Im not accepting that in a month n a half you just now heard of this and is trying ti correct it.when he asked me if i still had the replacement rod that if i used it or not.

For a billion dollar company thats known world wide and just walks over a consumer, thats unacceptable.i did all the requirements on my part, receipt, warranty form, packed and shipped.and for you to say"if you cant get the rod back i cant do anything for you"well you can go eat a rod!
Im done with daiwa!

Saddest part is some of my best memories was when i was a kid and had a daiwa spinning combo catching monster trout out of lake themescal.carp and crappie out in sj at the reserviors and so on
