My name is Jose Montes...I've fished Monterey Bay for over 30 years from own boats, longer on party boats.  I currently own a 27' PH MayCraft which is berthed at the Monterey Bay Muni Marina.  I am retired, again, and therefore am able to fish whenever I want. I've fished Salmon, halibut, rockcod/lingcod, WSB, Albacore, BFT and more for decades.  All my vacations are to Mexico, Alaska or B.C. for more fishing. For the last two years I've served as alternate member representing Recreational fishing on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council.  That said;
Well, it looks like I'll be the Primary Advisor representing Recreational Fishing interests on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Council. If final confirmation is approved by the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries I will be sworn in at a subsequent meeting. As the council member who last held the primary seat resigned at the last meeting, I will be in the primary seat at the next meeting which will be held in HMB on August 15th. I am preparing a written report for that meeting I am being asked to report on current activities and future activities relative to the recreational fishing community. I am also being asked to poll and report on concerns and challenges my constituents in the recreational fishing community may have in regards to the MBNMS. I am reaching out to all NCKA members who may have thoughts on this issue. Please keep in mind the Sanctuary Advisory Council doesn't make or enforce fishing regulations. They advise on all manner of concerns involving the sanctuary. If you go to their website, you'll see the council is made up of representatives from business, government and community interests. Feel free to post on here or to my email. pistolerocaptain1@gmail.com. I promise to keep you all informed of recreational fishing-related issues discussed by the council and equally promise to give your feedback to the council. I will be working on developing an online newsletter to disseminate information related to recreational fishing and will ask you to subscribe online, not just for the reading, but to verify a constituency interested in how the MBNMS operates and advises. Thanks.

Thanks for posting. I assume that this is the place to look for general info on the council:
