Capel and Oak shores are free last I heard, but there is now a pay machine at Capel that may or may not be in use. I believe Oak shores will get the same machine if not already there.
Capell, Oak Shores, and Smittle Creek will all be converting to "fee use" areas in the near future.
Oh so run by Bureau?
Do you know how much?

It took some digging, but I found the proposal.

Proposed $5 day use $10 boat launch. Was supposed to be implemented May of this year so maybe it fell through? Even if it does go through $5 isn’t bad. Or $50 for an annual pass.

As of yesterday, the 21st, Capell Cove,  Smittle Creek, and Oak Shores are still free of charge. I went to scope out the situation at Oak Shores as it's the best place to launch if you're trying to fish the big island and that's where the kokes  have been caught. I was kinda hoping it was set up with an iron ranger so that way you don't have to wait till  7:30 (If your lucky) for them to open up. $25 for Markely is absurd but it's the closest launch to the dam so it is what it is, I guess.

I built my kayak in High School.....think about 1964.  Took it over to Lake Berryessa to try it out.  Parked along the side of the lake and carried the kayak to the lake.  I am out paddling around and the Boat Deputy comes by......says I was supposed to only launch at the boat ramp.  Needed some sort of sticker or something.  He did not give me a ticket, but I expect he could have.

One can park around the lake and go fishing without paying a fee...…..other than a fishing license.

This was a long time ago.  I guess the price went up and everything.

Just wheel under the gate. I gave it a go yesterday hoping that the weather forecast was wrong. It wasn’t. The wind came up as soon as the sun came up and blew me off the water. Weather report said it was 22mph wind when I left  :smt044

I also asked the park ranger when they were going to start charging. He didn’t know and didn’t have any estimate.

I'm too worried about my truck getting broken into on the road. Do you wheel from road all the way to the launch pad or just straight down the hill. I also don't feel like hauling my Outback loaded with gear all the way back up the hill after fishing all day, but that's because I'm outta shape. Got any plans to try again this week? I might be able to make it out.
