Thanks all for responding.
I have been kayaking/fishing in the ocean for 3 years.  I usually go out Linda mar beach or Pilar point harbor.  I am also a long-time surfer and have done free diving.

My boat is a 10 ft wilderness systems.  I have recently added a trolling motor (optional) for the salmon fishing, which I have done from party boats.  I am safety conscious, I have radio, beacon, shark shield (wife provided, of course).  Knowing what the ocean can dish out, I don't like going in dicy conditions  This winter has been rough, with few opportunities for relatively flat conditions on days I'v had free.   Previous years were gentler.  I live in Pacifica.  Know the effects of tides and individual swells and weather is a big factor.  I am mostly retired, so have more days to choose to fish.  I have had some success with Ling Cod and rockfish, but slow success/progress.

I have read the many reports about Bean Hollow.  Also books about how people get in trouble.

My friend who wants to go is a fear-challenged daily Montara surfer.  I'm not such a risk-taker and if Pidgeon Point is overly risky, I wouldn't go.  I won't surf Montana anymore.  Conditions change too quickly.

It would be nice to go with someone experienced with the area.

Is it a beach or cove launch?  If anyone needs a partner and wants to go I would consider, after looking at conditions.

Thanks

Pillar point is a cove and very doable when surf launch is sketchy elsewhere. There is a long stair access and it’s always nice to have someone with you to bring kayak down or up the stairs. On the other hand, Bean Hollow is a beach access that can get really sketchy. I’ve had a few “oh shit” moments there launching and landing. I think you’d be fine. Just wait for hookups, it’ll happen. Darius usually posts them. I don’t go there much like I used to since I live too far from there now (used to live in Daly City).

I've even had some "oh sh*t" moments there while out on the water! :smt044

Dude!,
Just take a drive and go check it out!
Odds are it's gonna be a day you wished you brought your gear, or the complete opposite.
For me, going to different places and imagining I had to "Unload, Launch, Land and Reload" has brought several spots within the realm of personal possibility, and others not so much.

Absolutely kuya! My freezer only has 1 vacuum pack fillet. When the condition is right I will definitely post hook up.
