Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I'd be stoked to hear about your 2018 year and any big plans for 2019 diving!

2018 has been an epic dive year for me and I'm super grateful my wife has allowed me to invest in it as much as I have - although I try hard to make sure she is well cared for too. The more I dive, the more dates we go on!  :-* I have one last blue water trip lined up in Kona this year and I might try to hop in the water this Saturday but after that looks like the speargun will be dry till January. 2019 will be very different as we're expecting our first kid in early February. I'm hoping Bella Love will develop a passion for the ocean so I can have a dive buddy in a few years. Here is our Christmas Card this year (every year we try to do something fun/quirky).

Merry Christmas!  You and Jim have inspired me to try my hand at spear fishing.  Not much of a apnic diver as of yet so I just got my scuba cert and picked up a spear gun.  My intention is to eventually make the move to free diving and meet up with you. 

Congrats on the little one, seems like yesterday I had my first although that was 17 years ago!  Have a great New year's Keeno!

I'd be happy to take you out to free dive in shallow water (just know your first few fish will likely be perch). Personally, I think freediving is the best way to spearfish. It's more challenging, it teaches you how to hunt efficiently and it's way more rewarding. You don't need a crazy breath hold, I'm typically underwater for less than 1 min when I dive solo, and you'll definitely be able to hold your breath longer than you think you can. There are simple practice techniques you can do while at your desk at work/couch at home. It basically comes down to teaching your mind that your body doesn't need air when you think it does.  PM me if you'd like the info on that. Keep me in the loop when you want to go dive!
