Was gearing up to go for flatties in Santa Cruz tomorrow, Then I see Coastside is showing Salmon at Moss.  Any body interested in either tomorrow?  Weather looks kinda snotty, but you can't always have it perfect...right? :smt002

I HAVE seen and heard good reports of salmon in mid-bay. If you launch from Moss, you might want to hang a left and troll towards Marina. Straight out from Mulligan's Hill has been producing some nice fish. Most of the kings have been deep and silvers are on top. Make sure its got a black mouth before bonking it on the head!
Good luck guys! Hope you score some salmon!

Sincoast: Yeah, I think that's a good idea.  I tend to head NW, but it's further that way to deep water even tho coming back is generally with the wind, but then you have to swing wide to avoid hitting the jaws too close to the shallows/breakers to the north of the jaws.
A minus tide at @5, high at @noon, so if the wind cooperates, it should be an o.k. get out if early and it shouldn't be too bad getting back in around slack water.
The Mulligan Hill  on my fishing map is 4 mi from the Jaws, but maybe what is meant is the finger of deep water at 3 miles out in that direction, 36 46.65 121 49.55 or #110 on the Fish-n-Map Co. chart.
I plan to go to Moss on Thurs, would like to get someone else to go. There seems to be more bait in the bay now, and some salmon are being caught deep, I can hope for a stray.

Fish are 80-140ft deep in 250FOW.

Salmon are being slaughtered right now. This area is straight out in front of Marina. Man, I wish the swell was down so we could launch from the beach there! Because its a long paddle from Moss or Seaside/Monterey.

Choices choices...this is potentially the LAST kayak-fishable wknd of the summer for me (first child due in 10 days!) Do I go fish for RF+lings at the soon-to-be-closed MLPA spots...or do I go for salmon??!!!!

Maybe it is time to leave the yak in the shed and take my sailboat over to Mulligans?

I have been eating lots of rockfish and salmon would taste really good on the bbq.  :smt003 .  I could mothership a few yaks out there if we had a crew.

According to this report they also seem to be near Capitola.
http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/archive/2007/June/14/sport/stories/04sport.htm

"the Capitola area may actually be the hot spot for this week. Ed Burrell from Capitola Boat and Bait calls it "wide open" As of Wednesday, a huge school of bait was pushed up to the shoreline, followed by a good variety of predators.

"I've seen 25 white sea bass caught from the wharf today, caught with live anchovies or swimbaits," Burrell said. "Most were undersized, but at least four were legal"

If that's not enough, Burrell helped net a legal halibut off the wharf and a 25-pound striped bass caught by Larry Roland. Burrell also reported a big 24-pound halibut caught by skiff fisherman David Gomes near the Mile Reef this week."
