Do you actively carry a manual bilge pump on your kayak when on the water

This is the only time I've needed my bilge pump, and it wasn't for me, but still super glad I had it!!

bilge pump, throw rope, paddle float, and radio on almost all outings, all of which are above deck. I might omit the radio if I'm on a small lake, but it's such a non-event to have it that I usually include it on every trip.

Have yet to start carrying a spare paddle, but I really should.

Could someone post pics and description of a proper tow rope so I can add one to my safety gear.

Good idea to have one, and to practice with it from time to time so you know how to use it, and equally importantly, know how to put it away so it won't tangle when deployed the next time it's needed. There are some good yoootoob videos on this.

I dont carry a throw rope but have a bow line from my bow to the carry handle on my 16 ft yak. I can be towed, and in a pinch could remove it and tow someone else. Also use it as a guide for drift anchor. Spare paddle is handy when old age makes you forget your primary paddle at home.

Always inside the closest hatch, tethered by rope and within reach.

Exactly, great set up. I learned that one from Bushy and still have my trident 13 rigged that way.

I have one but so far I have not brought it with me. When I bought a set of Wheelez from a NCKA member in Oakland he said your just starting out so I'm going to throw in this pump for free. He said always bring this with you when you go out....you will need it at some point.

When I took a surf zone class early this year I rolled my kayak so many times I lost count. Even though all of the access points remained sealed, I twice remove about 5 gallons of water that found its way in some how. I had to borrow the teachers pump to get the water out. She told me to get a pump and carry it at all times.

Last week when I was at HMB with Ebayfisher he bugged me about needing to carry a pump.

The kayak that took on water at the Simply Fishing event was an Eddyline just like mine.

So can anyone guess what I will be bringing along the next time I go out?

I think I will get a throw rope too.

  Naw,,,,  I'd rather swim a mile...          Never had to use it,, but it's reassurance knowing it's there and in a quickly accessible spot.
