Arrived at MBK after sun up. The water looked nice near the harbor but a little choppy further out, but manageable. I fished from the first red buoy from MBK, yellow buoy in front of the hotel on the beach, and the bell buoy off of Cannery row.

Fishing was slow and had to give up when the wind started to BLoW at Noon. I paddle and drifted approximately 8.5 mile to catch four rockcod, a 23" lingcode C/R) and a few sanddab which I lost some when I turned over on the way in. Still had a great time.

Here's a few pics.

I wonder why that ling is missing connective tissue on the dorsal fin?

boy it was slow everywhere in the ocean it seems.

Good job Alex! Sorry I couldn't make it, work called...The winds really came up more than expected in the afternoon.I had to go on a rescue mission to make sure our renters were making it in safely.I'm going to try and get out for some rf this week, maybe Thurs.I might try drifting for halibut/rf off Capitola.

Those critters look tasty. :smt003

That is a pretty fat ling. Sure looks legal in the pics!
Way to tough it out and catch some fish. Sorry to hear you bailed on the reurn.

Thanks for the report and pics,
PK
